How to Protect Your Email Accounts

 

The following practices will make your email less prone to vulverabilities:

1. Ensure your email client is up to date.

2. When connecting to your email account, it is safer to connect using SSL. This will encrypt information and prevent attackers from stealing data via open wi-fi networks.

3. Do  not open unexpected attachments even from trusted contacts. Scan all attachments with an up to date anti-virus software if you must open it. This will prevent viruses on your local machine.

4. Keep your passwords secret. Do not share your email account with anyone.

5. Do not log in to your email account via an unknown link.
